We organize welcoming activities and “buddies” for arriving exchange students. We also inform and encourage the members of the Student Union about studying abroad.
For international students
Welcome to SLU and Ultuna. You will receive a letter with information before you start your time as an exchange student at SLU. We offer as many exchange students as we can a “buddy”, a person who knows about the university, Uppsala, where to go and what to do. Your “buddy” can be a support during your first time at SLU.
We would also like to welcome the master students to all our activities!
We are not only here to make your stay in Uppsala easier, we are also here to make it more fun! We organize different activities throughout the semester and they are usually a lot of fun.
Every week we translate the information letter from the student union and add our information about activities and typical Swedish traditions for the period.

The membership Fee of this autumn
6. The New Union Membership
From July 1 2010 and onwards the Student Union Membership for University students in Sweden is no longer compulsory. This means major and challenging changes for the Student Unions around the country. Ultuna Student Union has worked very hard in order to meet these changes, the main aim being to work as well as possible as an association driving its members’ cardiac questions and organising exciting activities. New questions keep on popping up, so please bear with us as our routines are not yet perfect.
Ultuna Student Union is careful to use the money coming in from membership fees driving the core issues such as:
• the quality of Your education • keeping up contacts with the enterprise • a secure time as a student
By your Union membership You show us that this is important and You make it possible for us to continue driving these questions!
To thank you for this there are several benefits linked to your membership.
Parties and leisure activities will continuously be run self-financed. Become a member at www.ultunastudentkar.se!
7. The ’Bill’ in the Letterbox
All members from Autumn Semester 2009 or Spring Semester 2010 have recieved a payment slip and an information folder. We hope that you think that the membership fee is financing important matters and/or think that the member benefits are good! In such cases you are warmly welcomed as members of Ultuna Student Union! If not you can ignore the payment slip without needing to worry about any payment demands, but please tell us what you think we can do better.
8. What about next semester?
We will send a payment slip to You for yet another semester, wheather or not you opt to become a member for Autumn semester 2010. This with the hope that You have changed your mind and value the Union activities higher by then.
9. Why should I continue paying a membership fee?
Because you value what the Union does for you and your fellow students, as well as for coming generations of Ultuna students. The money that we receive from the membership fees go straight to the core issues of the Union. Parties and leisure activities are self-financed, but these are pleasant elements in the Union activities!
